In what could be a preview of what to expect this season, Mexican forward Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez was not even considered as a substitute during Manchester United's 1-0 loss to Everton at Goodison Park Monday.

Sir Alex Ferguson started Danny Welbeck and Wayne Rooney, and sent in newly aqcuired Robin van Persie and Bulgarian Dimitar Berbatov as options in the second half.

Hernandez played a friendly with Mexico on Wednesday, and the travel time from Mexico City may have been a factor in his absence during the match.

The same day the Red Devils announced the signing of van Persie, there were rumors that Chicharito was going to be sold to another team, but United representatives said that wasn't true.

In the end, Hernandez was only a spectator in Man U's season opener.
