Georgia's most famous football has been nominated for the post of energy minister.
Kakha Kaladze, who played for Milan from 2001 to 2010 and spent the past two years at Genoa, was named candidate for the post by Bidzina Ivanishvili, whose coalition won the parliamentary election. Ivanishvili presented his Cabinet on Tuesday.
The government has yet to be approved by President Mikhail Saakashvili.
The 34-year-old Kaladze announced his retirement form football in May to join billionaire Ivanishvili's campaign.
Kaladze, who holds a degree in history from a Georgian university, has no experience in the energy sector, but has promised to give priority to renewable energy and said Georgia should ditch costly hydro-power plant projects.
