
The U-20 Mexican women suffered a 4-1 loss to Japan in the opening round of the World Cup Sunday.
Hanae Shibata scored in the first half to stake Japan to a 1-0 lead, and then the floodgates opened in the second, as Naomoto, Yokoyama and Tanaka all scored goals.
Sofia Huerta broke the string with the only goal Mexico notched in the late stages of the match.
Mexico faces Switzerland in another Group A clash Wednesday.
