The Miami Heat won its second title and LeBron James his first on Thursday night, setting up one of the biggest celebrations South Beach has had in years, apparently to the tune of $150,000.
The intentions were clear when the game ended with Pat Riley yelling to the sellout card in American Airlines Arena, “Can we party now?”
Always ones to live up to the expectations, the Miami Heat stars arrived in LIV nightclub in the Fountanibleu hotel at around 2:30 a.m. (likely after lengthy partying at the Arena) to the main stage and a VIP area that had been set up just for the team.
James arrived with Dwyane Wade and Udonis Haslem among others, with Chris Bosh being the last to arrive at 4:30 a.m. The doors were open to the public at 3 a.m., with the nightclub already above capacity for the champagne to pop and the celebration to begin: the tab is estimated at over $200,000.
The celebrations began with an Ace of Spades magnum sized champagne (estimated size of over 40 regular bottles) as Dwyane Wade wore a shirt that said “Team No Sleep” and LeBron James wore a shirt with his shirt on it as he jumped on stage and attempted to sing to the crowd.
Ultimately he was replaced by DJ Ire (The Heat’s official DJ) and a surprise performance by LMFAO who will have a concert at the club on Friday night.
The tab compares to the one collected by the Boston Bruins that totaled over $156,000 though they hardly did so in an overpriced South Beach hotel, meaning the team downed a lot more booze.
