Diego Armando Maradona recognized that he is the father of the child his girlfriend, Veronica Ojeda, is expecting though he admits his relationship with her is “at an impasse”.
Maradona’s lawyer, Victor Stinfale, made the announcement in an official press release:
“Diego Maradona recognized as his the baby that Veronica Ojeda is expecting, but wants to make it clear that the relationship with the aforementioned is at an impasse. He will talk to her upon his return,” said the statement.
The former player is still working in the United Arab Emirates where he will serve as a sports ambassador through June 2013.
Maradona is the father of Dalma, 25 and Gianina, 23, with his ex-wife, Claudia Villafane. He also has a son, Diego Sinagra, that the Italian government has recognized as his though the Argentinean star has never done so. In the press release he acknowledges the son:
“He was the fruit of a one night stand. A few years ago Diego Maradona gave almost one million Euros to Diego Maradona Junior and his mother (Cristiana Sinagra), agreeing that they would not talk to the media. Clearly they did not follow that.”
