Messi´s record and my experience with Miguel Calero
I want first of all to talk about the record Lionel Messi set for most goals in a calendar year on Sunday.
It was known that the mark had a great chance of being broken and after he overcame his small injury in Champions League, Messi did what many expected him to do.
In my opinion, Messi is the best player in the world, a player who is off the charts when you see him play. It’s impressive what he has done; I think he deserves, by far, the Ballon d’Or. Lionel is an immense player, who at any moment can decide a match.
I have not decided which team I will play with next year, but this week there may be something concrete. I’m still in touch with my agent, who is helping me define where I will play next season.
My injury is getting better by the day, I continue rehabilitating to recover from the knee sprain I suffered during the Ascenso final, and the doctor has told me that I probably will be ready to return to the field in one month, which coincides with the start of the tournaments in my country.
R.I.P. Miguel Calero
I want to express my condolences for the death of Miguel Calero, a great goalkeeper for Pachuca. It was very difficult for the soccer world of Mexico, something unexpected and very painful. Miguel was a great person, and he was known as a great teammate. I send my sincerest condolences to his family and the people around him.
I had the opportunity to play against Calero several times when I played with America. I remember in the 2007 Clausura tournament, we played in the final against Pachuca and I scored a goal from the penalty spot in the first leg and another on a free kick in the second leg. However, the ‘Tuzos’ won the championship and Miguel was a big part of winning the title, for his great saves in both matches.
The goal on a free kick I scored against Calero was the last goal I scored with my beloved America. Here is the video.
Until next week and remember … eat fruits and vegetables!
