"I come with a clear objective. I like to win and throughout my career I have won titles so I don’t want this year to be like the past one, that I didn’t win anything" said Fernando Gago to the club's official television channel hours before his official presentation .

Gago, who was loaned to Roma last season from Real Madrid, has signed with Valencia for the next four seasons. The Argentina international expressed that his transfer to Valencia was not a hard a decision to make. "I made the decision quick, keeping in mind the sport aspect, the family and the city, which is spectacular. I also like the history of the club, I have a friend who spoke highly of this institution and I think it will be very good for me," he commented.

The defensive midfielder confessed that he had already spoken with coach Mauricio Pellegrino, who spoke to him "very clear". "I liked the club's project because it has very important players,” he added.

In regards of his position on the field and his contribution to the team Gago added that “I always had the central midfielder, although on occasion I have played closer to the opponent’s goal, but what I like to play  best is as 5 (central midfielder). I’ll try to help the team and play as many matches as possible.”
