Joaquín del Olmo leaves Pumas, to be replaced by Carrillo
Joaquín del Olmo could not bring together the talent on the Pumas roster.
The bad results from Joaquin del Olmo ended the patience from UNAM, who ended its contract with the coach after collecting only seven out of 18 possible points in the first six games of the Apertura 2012 tournament.
The team's front office had made big, costly moves to bring Pumas back to the top of the table including elite signings like Emanuel Villa, Luis Garcia, Martin Romagnoli and Jaime Losano; regardless, Del Olmo could never find the winning formula on the field.
Among the possible candidates to replace Del Olmo are Mario Carrillo and Jesus Ramiros. The club is expected to make a formal announcement Tuesday afternoon.
