AC Milan has reached a deal for Colombian defender Cristian Zapata on loan from Spanish second division club Villarreal with the right to buy.
The Rossoneri took Zapata from Villarreal after the ‘Yellow Submarine’ was relegated to second division and started to market its most expensive players to reduce costs.
The 25-year-old played during six seasons for Italian side Udinese before moving to Spain on a permanent deal. He comes to Milan as a natural replacement for Alessandro Nesta who left to play in the MLS.
Zapata is the second Colombian player to play with Milan after fellow country man Mario Alberto Yepes who, at 35, has a substitute role in the club.
