In an interview to Portuguese network RTP Jose Mourinho accused FIFA of "irregularities in choosing the best coach in the world,” an award that was won by Spain coach Vicente del Bosque. "I got called by several people to tell me that the vote was for me and in the end it went to somebody else. That’s why I decided to not attend."
"I accuse FIFA of irregularities in the election of the best coach in the world. There was a lack of transparency," said Mourinho to RTP journalist Hugo Gilberto.
"FIFA was aware of these irregularities, knew existed, and not prevented," said Mourinho.
Back in January the Portuguese announced he would not attend the FIFA Gala because he had ‘work to do’. Later he was seen at his son’s soccer practice the same day of the event, something that was thought to be the real reason he did not go to the FIFA awards gala.
