The Daily Mail reports that Dimitar Berbatov has asked Sir Alex Ferguson to let him leave Manchester United this summer.

Berbatov, 31, is exptected to be on the team flight to Durban Monday as United begins its preseason tour of South Africa and China.

The Bulgarian striker posted on Facebook, "I am tired of speculation. I read the papers and I see they say £10 million is my price. I go and talk with Sir Alex, and he says to me £5 m. So who is telling the truth?  I love this club, but I’m not going to be useful to anyone if I am not playing. I want to play, I want to help. But for unknown reasons it’s not going to happen or my chances will be limited, so it’s better for everyone if we say goodbye. If not, I am professional and I will keep doing everything I can to help my team and my  teammates, whenever I have the opportunity to do so."

Berbatov spent much of last season with United on the bench, playing only 21 times as he was overlooked in favor of Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez as Wayne Rooney's partner up front.
