Barcelona seemed destined to an undefeated season before a late goal from Imanol Agirrexte gave Real Sociedad a 3-2 upset against the La Liga leaders.

Barcelona had gotten to a 2-0 lead before Gerard Pique's ejection in the 56th minute after his second yellow card aided the home team's three-goal comeback.

Barcelona s et a league record by winning 18 games and o nly drawing once by the competition's midway point.

Lionel Messi scored for a 14th straight game to open for Barcelona in the seventh minute, and P edro Rodriguez appeared to give the visitors full control in the 25th.

But Gonzalo "Chori" Castro scored in the 41st and then equalized in the 63rd after Barcelona's Gerard Pique was dismissed for a second yellow card.

Mexico's Carlos Vela was the one that instigated Pique's ejection and gave the assist in "Chori" Castro's first goal.

Imanol Agirretxe went on in the 84th and tapped in Carlos Martinez's last-gasp cross for the winning goal.
