After recently breaking the most goals in a calendar year record, Lionel Messi is not stopping. If he continues his amazing scoring rate, he will break more records soon. These are the next scoring records Lionel Messi could break.

Messi will likely become the all time top scorer of the Champions League in the 2013-14 or the 2014-15 editions.

Former Real Madrid star Raúl is currently the top scorer of the European Cup/Champions League with 71 goals. Messi has 56 and counting. The only other active player in the top 10 playing the tournament is Cristiano Ronaldo who has 44 goals.

Lionel already became Barcelona's top scorer in official matches, and he could become the club's all time scorer including friendly matches next season.

Barcelona legend, Filipino-Spanish Paulino Alcántara has been Barcelona's all time scorer since 1927. He arrived at the club in 1912 and scored 369 goals in 357 matches, most of them in friendlies. Messi has 304 goals and reaching Alcántara's record is a matter of time.

Messi will become the Spanish League's all time scorer most likely in the next season.

The record holder is Athletic Bilbao's greatest player Telmo Zarra who scored 251 goals in 15 seasons in La Liga. Currently playing his 9th season, Messi is in 9th place of the all time list with 192 goals.

Always criticized when playing with Argentina, the 'flea' is on pace to become his country's all time top scorer.

Gabriel Omar Batistuta is Argentina's all time top scorer with an impressive 56 goals in 78 matches. Messi has 31 goals in 76 matches, but at just 25 years old, he will have plenty of time to break the record.

However, the next record he could beat will be in January when he can become the first player ever to win 4 Golden Balls. It is not a goal scoring record but his election would be a consequence of the goals he scored this year.
