The NBA trade deadline is upon us once again, and for a league that likes to stay pat more or less this time of year, there have been some great trades made on deadline that have turned teams around. Let's look at the 10 best now.

Knicks trade for Carmelo Anthony: In 2011, the Knicks traded Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallinari, Timofey Mozgov, Wilson Chandler and New York's 2014 first-round pick to the Denver Nuggets for Anthony, Chauncey Billups, Shelden Williams, Anthony Carter and Renaldo Balkman. Anthony alone has been worth it for the Knicks, as he is second in the league in scoring and New York has the second-best record in the East. the Nuggets acquired enough pieces to remain a playoff team, and in 2012 they are a top-5 team in the West.

Nets trade for Deron Williams: In 2011, the Utah Jazz traded Deron Williams to the Nets for Devin Harris, Derrick Favors, two first-round picks and cash. Williams helped rejuvenate a Nets team that had been struggling, while the Jazz have been in the playoff hunt thanks to the additions of Favors and Harris.

Sonics trade for Ray Allen: At the trade deadline in 2003, the Sonics traded legendary point guard Gary Payton, along with Desmond Mason to the Milwaukee Bucks for Ray Allen, Kevin Ollie, Ronald Murray and a conditional first-round pick. Allen made the Sonics instant contenders.

76ers trade for Mutombo: The Philadelphia 76ers were a center short of contending in the Eastern Conference, so in 2001 they traded Theo Ratliff, Tony Kukoc, Nazr Mohammed and Pepe Sanchez to Atlanta for Dikembe Mutombo and foward Rosheon McLeod. Mutombo proved to be the missing piece in Philly, where he teamed with Allen Iverson to take the Sixers to the Finals that season.

Heat trade for Walker: In 2005, Antoine Walker was part of a 5-team, 13-player deal that moved him from Boston to Miami. He became a key contributor to the Heat's first NBA title in 2006.

Heat acquire Hardaway: In 1996, the Heat traded Bimbo Coles and Kevin Willis to Golden State for Tim Hardaway and Chris Gatling. Hardaway became the backbone, along with Alonzo Mourning, of Heat teams that challenged in the East throughout the late 1990s.

Hawks trade Wilkins: This trade is significant for the players involved in the deal as much as the impact on the two dealing teams. In 1994, the Hawks traded all-time leading scorer Dominique Wilkins to the L.A. Clippers for Danny Manning. Manning helped lead the Hawks to the No. 1 seed in the East, but they were upset in the second round of the playoffs.

Suns trade for KJ, Majerle: In 1988, the Cleveland Cavaliers traded Kevin Johnson, Dan Majerle, Mark West, Tyrone Corbin and two second-round picks to Phoenix for Larry Nance, Mike Sanders and their 1988 first-round pick. KJ and Majerle were part of the nucleus of very good Suns teams over the next few years, culminating in Phoenix's run to the 1993 NBA Finals. Nance was an anchor for a young Cavs team that frequently reached the playoffs.

Nuggets acquire English: In 1980, the Indiana Pacers traded third-year player Alex Engliush and a first-round pick to the Denver Nuggets for George McGinnis. McGinnis lasted only two seasons in Indiana before retiring, while English went on to become one of the all-time leading scorers in NBA history and the leader of the 1981-82 Nuggets, the highest-scoring team in league history.

76ers trade for Wilt: In 1965, the Philadelphia 76ers traded Connie Dierking, Paul Neumann, Lee Shaffer and cash to the San Francisco Warriors for Wilt Chamberlain. The Sixers became instant contenders, and led by Wilt won the 1967 NBA title with one of the greatest teams in league history.
