The MLS All-Star Game, which was first held in 1996, also established the tradition of awarding a most valuable player for the game. The following are the most memorable MVPs in the history of the All-Star Game.

Carlos Valderrama (Colombian midfielder): El Pibe was not only the MVP of the All-Star Game, he is also the only player to have won the award on multiple occasions, in his case in 1996 and 1997. Both times he represented the Eastern Conference. He also scored the first goal for his team in 1997.

Landon Donovan (Midfielder-USA): The player with the most All-Star appearances (12, including this year), debuted in the game in 2001. He was responsible for 4 of the 6 goals his team scored in that game.

Cuauhtémoc Blanco (Forward-Mexico): The only Mexican player to win the MVP award of the MLS All-Star Game, Blanco won in 2008, after scoring goal and giving an assist in 46 minutes played.

Marco Etcheverry (Midfielder-Bolivia): El Diablo was the MVP in the 2002 game; where he scored a goal for the MLS stars. He is the only Bolivian to receive the award.

Juan Pablo Ángel (Forward-Colombia): This veteran was an All-Star on two occasions, 2007 and 2010, winning the MVP award in his first game after scoring the first goal for his team.

Carlos Ruiz (Forward-Guatemala): Pescadito, as he was known, is the ninth leading scorer in the leagues history and won the MVP in the 2003 All-Star Game, where he scored the second goal for this squad.

Tim Howard (Goalie-USA): The only goalkeeper on this list, Howard won the MVP in the 2009 game while playing for Everton. He saved three shots in the penalty shootout giving his squad a victory.

Dwayne De Rosario (Midfielder-Canada): The only Canadian to have won the MVP of the All-Star game won the award in 2006, scoring a goal on the winning team.

Preki (Forward-USA): One of the best players in the history of the league, Predrag Radosavljevi, of Serbian origins, was MVP of the All-Star game in 1999, where he scored a goal for the Western Conference.

Amado Guevara (Midfielder-Honduras): The award recipient in 2004, Guevara deserved the award after scoring two of three goals for the Western Conference team. He also won the season MVP award that year.
